Franklin Tree

Franklinia alatamaha

Discovered by the Bartrams, and named for their friend Benjamin Franklin, this lovely small tree is extinct in the wild. Beautiful white camellia-like blossoms open from late summer to early fall, and glossy leaves develop brilliant fall color. A well-drained, acidic soil is essential to its happiness. Ht. 10-20' (Sun to partial shade)
